The earlier posts in this blog were originally published on Dr. Beatty’s HyFlex World blog from 2010 – 2016 with a few posts from 2019-2020. Many of the ideas presented in these posts became part of the “HyFlex Book” published online (and free!) in 2019 – Hybrid-Flexible Course Design: Implementing student-directed hybrid classes.  

Brian Beatty

Dr. Brian Beatty is Professor of Instructional Design and Technology in the Department of Equity, Leadership Studies and Instructional Technologies at San Francisco State University. At SFSU, Dr. Beatty pioneered the development and evaluation of the HyFlex course design model for blended learning environments, implementing a “student-directed-hybrid” approach to better support student learning.

    It is good to see this community taking shape as we prepare for revisoning our perspective of “normal” in education around the world in 2021 and beyond.
